You are getting a lot of bad information. The shackles need clearance to move. I am seeing nuts forced past the threaded portion of the bolt.
I was wrong with my insistence on the shackles being a solid unit on a non EZ Flex installation. The shackles are free to pivot on the bolt which explains why they elongate and fail. It's a seriously flawed operation/design. Why have bushings in the springs when the shackles are going to pivot and wear out instead? Stupid design. Why would you allow a non-wear item to move? Makes absolutely no sense to me.
However I do stand behind my earlier assertion that the suspension components shown are not right. Those shackles are going to fail because they aren't designed to works as wear parts. Very, very poorly done.
In my defense I will have state that I had no idea trailer suspensions were so badly done. I replaced the components on my triple axle toyhauler with proper parts and after seeing how they actually "design" these things to work, I'm glad I did. Unbelievable.
