Lithium CR2032 - 3V Energizer

My garage door opener uses ONE Lithium CR2032 3V coin sized cell.

It is obvious that the opener is a "smart" device but it has, of late, been intermittent. I measured the cell to be 3.08V which I thought would be OK...

BUT

A fresh cell measures 3.24V.

So, the question, how much capacity might a Lithium 3.08V have remaining when compared to the fresh cell at 3.24V ?
  • Your discharged cell may have enough capacity to recharge. Be cautious!

    You should know
Fcc regs are all about commercial communication interference
Not about home remote control low power receivers
Which are intentionally less sensitive and short range (so almost any kind of rf can block them)

Cree certifies it won't internet with your tv or your cellphone

    I would replace the battery.
BTW if you changed the bulb in the opener to LED there is a good chance it interferes with the radio signal.
Boy Howdy on that ! I replaced 7 incandescent lamps in the ceiling with CREE LED's and it killed every RF remote in the house: Bedroom fans (3), garage door, even neighbors garage, +my car. Don't know about the others but be aware that CREE seems to pay no attention to RFI at all regardless of what compliance certs they claim to have.

I just changed the 2032 battery on my keyfob and it wasn't that far off of 3V but was causing all kinds of issues with the car. Whoever is designing these things is leaving no headroom whatsoever for the battery starting to sag

  • If both remotes are having issues it may be a circuit board. If it's only one, change the battery, they are only a dollar.

  • I have several remotes using that sized battery. Anytime the remote begins to act up I know it is time to replace the battery. Sorry I can't help you with the capacity stuff. I just remove and replace.
