- Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIIs Mr. Mark on this forum? If so, ask him what it's costing him to have Liberty Coach install 3 LiON batteries in his new $2 million dollar Prevost. I'll give you a hint. It's about $4500 per battery!
- KpackpackkelleyExplorer III didn't see the part on temperatures. I have a drill with lithium batteries and at 45 degrees or below they won't charge got to bring them in the house to warm them up.
- atreisExplorerAlas... Better in every way except one: $$$$$
- wa8yxmExplorer IIII think this issue is worth following.. But for the time being price/benefits ratio is still heavily skewed toward lead acid. When they cut a zero off the price tag on the LiONs.. Perhaps then they can compete.

There are some on sailboats so there must be a workaround.
Still? Lithium-Ion doesn't play well with salt water environments - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerMilitary's got all my money. no fair!

In a previous life I was slightly involved with some of the largest lead-acid batteries there are, the ones in Submarines.
I have friends that are well, deeply involved (up to, and including the Navy's Main Battery Steering Committee)
They have been very -VERY- interested in Lithium-Ion battery as a "some-day" replacement for lead-acid battery
Still? Lithium-Ion doesn't play well with salt water environments and then there's the run-away event the Navy had on one Submarine that was testing them. Sure had the rest of us who used Lithium-Ion on other military projects scrambling with additional testing, reports, meetings, presentations, etc. - n7bsnExplorerIn a previous life I was slightly involved with some of the largest lead-acid batteries there are, the ones in Submarines.

Interesting but as usual with such promotional material quite biased. - mena661Explorer
