Other than a few dollars for maintenance electricity there is little difference in time between battery types even stored under optimum conditions?
This means GREEN electric cars are actually (ahem) BROWN?
Needs a twelve thousand dollar battery pack automatically at so-many years? I've read a little about lithium battery manufacturing process and it is anything but friendly to the earth.
Being " substantially informed" about power transmission and grid management, it will take over ONE MILLION MILES of enhanced transmission, distribution, and service lines to replace hydrocarbons. Imagine how much steel and aluminum that's going to take. The pollution and resource damages. How to we plan for generation stations? Nuclear? Coal?
A total reliance on a centralized energy network means an astronomical increase in vulnerability to hacking and disruption. The term EXTENDED POWER FAILURE takes on a whole new meaning.
Look at any map ANYWHERE in the USA. Are there available powerlines to supply gigawatts along US 95, US 50, US 93, hell, US ANYTHING.
People are going around with their head stuck up their ---, and to name one specifically, Governor Brown, of California and the rest of the mis-educated masses. They have proposed rules for outlawing anything but electrical vehicles for the future.
I was hoping in this thread to see something positive with lithium battery usage. My hopes are dashed. And yes, yes emphatically I hate lead technology - it is poison especially for children.
But a trillion tons of aluminum and another trillion tons for steel for a vastly more vulnerable infrastructure? I am glad I will be feeding a tree.
