I am replacing my current two RV/Marine batteries since they're about 5-6 years old and arent holding much of a charge anymore.I have a couple local choices for batteries and I was looking for opinions on the few options I have.I can pick up a couple 6 volt Trojan T-105's for about $180 each.Specs are 225 amp hr @ 20 hr / 185 amp hr @ 5 hrOr I can get a couple 12 volt Exide deep cycle for around $100 each.Spec are 105 amp hr @ 20 hr / no other dataOr the AGM batteries around here are very expensive at $190+ each.Specs are 95 amp hr @ 20 hr / 78 amp hr @ 5 hrSo..... I'm going to throw a guess out there that the Trojan's are the best bet but I just wanted to be sure what you all think before I make any rash decisions. Unless someone has some better ideas. :B

Read that and you should realize no one can tell which battery is "best" as it depends so much on how you intend to use those batteries, the equipment you have to properly maintain them, and the physical space you have available for mounting them.

I bought 2 lifeline batteries last year 6v. Price sucked but I don't worry about boil overs anymore and a lot less maintenance. There are a lot of options but I liked the lifelines

If cost seems important you may as well go with Exide.Spend the savings on solar if you do not already have 200+ watts.

Looking for some help deciding on which batteries.....

Are the 6V batteries $180 apiece or $180 for a pair? A pair of 6V 225 Ah batteries will form a single 12V 225 Ah battery. If the Exide batteries are truly deep cycle batteries, and not hybrid starting batteries, three of them at $300 would give more capacity than the pair of 6V batteries at $360, if they are indeed $180 each.

As I understand it, usually the best bang for the buck in true deep cycle batteries ends up being the golf cart batteries. $180 apiece sounds rather expensive for them, from what I have gathered; Costco usually has ones (not necessarily quite as good or powerful as the Trojans) for somewhere around half that price, and golf cart stores may have similar prices to Costco.

My first set of Trojan T-105's lasted 13 years. The second set only 7 years, but I forgot to fill them with water several times.

Personally I've gone with 2 12v agm's. Costs more but lasts longer, charges quicker, does not have to be vented, virtually no maintenance except to keep then charged. I chose 12v rather than 6v because we do a lot of remote camping, 2-3 weeks at a time and if one 6v somehow goes bad I can't run anything. If one 12v goes bad I can still run on the other. 6v's can take a deeper discharge but we usually don't go below 70% anyway. Look at Lifeline or Universal Bestconverter.com

You might want to check a local golf course, and see where they buy batteries.

If you have a boil over problem, you have a serious problem. If it were me, I'd be fixing the problem. If you are boiling a LA battery, you are going to cremate a AGM !
And if you are using much water, you need a new converter,
