a REAL hardware store. maybe a big box store, but my local ACE hardware has literally hundreds of left hand thread hardware in fractional and metric sizes, along with things like "elevator bolts", (yes there is such a thing), kep nuts, tinnerman nut assortments, other captive nuts, external torx, stainless and grade 8 hardware and all kinds of uncommon hardware. Literally five 30 ft long floor to ceiling aisles of nuts, bolts and fasteners. Want a box, they have them, want only 1, that as well.
You are very fortunate!
We used to have hardware stores like that. The big box stores ran them all out of business. Even the industrial suppliers do not have the selection like they used to. That is why I gave up driving all over town to find special fasteners. I just order from McMASTER-CARR and it is on my doorstep the next day. BTW they have "Elevator Bolts" too :B
Like I say, you are lucky, I wish I had a place like that too :)
