a REAL hardware store. maybe a big box store, but my local ACE hardware has literally hundreds of left hand thread hardware in fractional and metric sizes, along with things like "elevator bolts", (yes there is such a thing), kep nuts, tinnerman nut assortments, other captive nuts, external torx, stainless and grade 8 hardware and all kinds of uncommon hardware. Literally five 30 ft long floor to ceiling aisles of nuts, bolts and fasteners. Want a box, they have them, want only 1, that as well.
The ACE hardware store/s in my area wouldn't come anywhere close to that selection!..:(
Have a Fastenal store close by - that does well with unusual hardware, and the employees are very helpful for ordering unusual stuff.
If you *don't* have a brick and mortar store that can help - lots of choices (as others have indicated) on the web.
Google(ing) - "Left-handed fasteners" - will list lots of suppliers.
