Lost a part...what to do?

I drove the 2006 Chinook home from storage today and when I got it home, I found that the door/cover over the water heater was gone.

I am guessing that I hit a bump in the road and it fell off. I'd been doing some other things and I had it off. Maybe I didn't get it reattached correctly? I'd also had propane added but I don't think the guy removed it. Hmm, I don't know.

Anyway where do you buy such parts for an older RV, which of course (as a brand) only just started up again? I emailed them and I'll wait but I imagine they'll try to sell me a new one, say they don't produce the old parts any more etc.

Thoughts?
  • I lost one on I-10 in Phoenix last year. Called around and then made a pattern of the hole with a piece of cardboard and took it to the guys that seemed to know what they were talking about on the phone. They had 2 or 3 different ones and one was mine. Had to buy the frame too, but it's hanging on my wall at home. Put a zip tie or a small machine bolt and nut through the locking tab when you get a new one. Of course the door had to be painted, but I did that.
