As another poster indicated, it's essential that the sensor is centered, and that the bottom of the tank is clean and free of any rust. It even helps to sand down the paint on the tank a little.
And since that video was filmed, I understand that they have a second-generation monitor that can now be calibrated for different size tanks the way that you can do in the smartphone app. I'm also told that the second gen sensors are thinner, and thus may not require the spacers.
