My Dad, a Master Electrician, told me to put my finger in a Xmas tree lamp socket at about the same age. At least he had another 20 old style incandescents lit in the string. :B

As an EE, I LOVE it!! Could have used one when I was still working - no need to lug a tester around. Not just cool, waaay cool. :C

Had one as a kid. Learned real fast to NOT stick bobby pins into sockets.

It looks to me like it would simply pop the breaker or fuse when it shorted across the terminals. There would be some pretty fireworks as it was plugged in though.

Maybe altitude, rather than amplitude?

Agreed, amplitude of the 60hz shaking might be a clue? Or would that be amperage, "I" or intensity?
