We will call the tanks L and R. You open both tanks. You want to draw from the L tank. You put the needle(arrow pointer) towards the L tank. When the L tank runs out, the pressure differential causes the changeover valve to open to the R tank. At this point, the GREEN indicator will go the RED. That is YOUR visual indicator that the L tank is empty and it has Auto changed to the R tank. You then take the manual needle/pointer arrow and turn it to the R tank. You can now disconnect the L tank from the pigtail to get it refilled without having an LP leak. If you do NOT turn the pointer to the full tank, you may have a LP leak out of that hose. Most RV'ers always use 1 particular tank first so they always know which tank is drawing from first every time. Doug
