LP Switch Over Valve

The handle on my switch over valve has become almost impossible to turn. Is there any fix other than replacing the valve?

  • The auto changeover mechanism is actually 2 high pressure regulators, and the lever/knob compresses the spring in one, raising the output pressure of that side. The side set to the higher pressure will be used until the tank pressure gets below the set point, at which point the lower set regulator will open (at the same time changing the indicator), using out of the reserve cylinder.

Spray around the lever with WD-40 or silicone spray or any kind of lube/penetrating spray.

Dirt gets inside and jams up the lever.
Spray then work it a little/spray some more/work it back & forth/spray again
The lever just swaps porting for the indicator......RED/GREEN

I think I have to disagree. If neither bottle is empty the lever also selects which tank to use
