Magic Chef Micro oven won't operate

Our Magic Chef Microwave will not work, I had just used it to warm up a plate of food and as I sat down to eat I glanced up at the microwave clock and it was blank. I tried all of the touch pad buttons and opened the door to see if the inside light worked and nothing operates. I then removed the unit from the wooden cabinet and plugged a drop cord into the microwave receptacle and the drop cord light works. I also plugged the microwave into a known good outlet and still nothing. Does anyone know if there is a fuse inside of the microwave housing?

  • Thanks jjcook, I found the fuse and it is open so will look for a replacement.
  • Hello mchero, Thanks for the info, I located the fuse and tested it and it is open so I will attempt to find an electrical supply outlet in this area for a replacement. We are very limited in this area for any kind of supplies. I did see a (old term) MOS-fat in the circuit next to the fuse and will test it also. Thanks for your help.
  • Mine died last fall if it is like my magic Chef there is a fuse behind the control panel. It is in like a little case. I replaced mine 3 times finally had to replace the microwave. Good luck

    I have a 600 watt Honda Genset I had connected to the rig one afternoon testing the genset. I had a senior momment & revved the genset.......NOT GOOD!!!!!

    After I realized what I had just done & shut down the genset, connected coach to pedastal and tested my electrical.

    I found BOTH My Sharp Convection Microwave AND My DirecTV box where DOA!

    Cracking the case I located the MOV's for each device. A MOV sits on the Positive side & if a surge is detected the mov blows so that no current passes thru. Can't tell if it's blown by just looking at it.

    Picked two of these up;

    Couple bucks each. Replaced MOVS & both sprung back to life & still running!

  • There are no user accessible fuses or circuit breakers on a MagicChef Microwave. You may be able to locate a thermocouple or fuse if you open the case.
