Magnetic switch at the bottom of door

Question

On our 2006 Revolution 40LE I am having trouble with the Quikee steps. I have noticed that the Magnetic strips which are located at the bottom corner of the opening side of the door do not even get close to touching. When the Screen door closes, these two strips, one on the door frame and the other on the door do not touch. They are at least an inch or more space between them. I am wondering if the door has been has been sprung although I have no idea how. Any help will be appreciated.

If the magnet and receiver are out of range the steps will not extend.I use a "fridge magnet" to test the operation of the receiver (in the door sill, the magnet is in the door).
