Fan operation depends on the A/C type and within type it depends on settings.
We have a "non-ducted" unit, and it has the same two control knobs as the classic window unit. There's a "Mode" knob that for Off then Low Fan, High Fan, Low Cool, High Cool. That and a Thermostat knob. Fan runs full time at Low or High speed and the Compressor cycles according to thermostat setting.
The "ducted" units are more like residential. Fan can have On, Auto, Low, High. In Auto, Fan cycles with Compressor.
In every case, Compressor will cycle unless it's simply too hot to satisfy the Thermostat.
We have a ducted unit. The thermostat has hi/low cool, and fan auto/on
We use low cool, as that's quieter, and fan on auto. So does that mean that if the fan is on, the compressor is on or does the compressor still cycle on/off while the fan is running?
in this case most likely the fan will be on as long as the thermostat says it's to hot. until the inside temp gets near the set temp, with my coleman mach III and colman power cub, the compressor basically runs continously until the trailer is cooled down. BUT I can't guarantee that is the case with all designs. It depends on the system design.
