If you have power to plug in a triclke charger, why not just plug the coach in and let the convertor, that is what it is designed to do, charge the batteries???

I would chuckle at these answers but the oroginal poster is serious.

A trickle chatger is like a roll of pennies applied toward your checking account. Some folks need bundled bricks of C notes to keep from a negative balamce. You have to first get a handle on how much power you are withdrawimg then make plans for an adequate deposit. You need meters not guesswork. Suggestion: GOOGLE the term AMP HOURS. Flying blind is a battery killer but it makes battery salesmen grin.

Yes a multi-stage charging system with a temperature compensated float set to the manufacturer's specification is best.

Or just trickle it :)

What is it about the word 'trickle' that is apparently so soothing to english speaking humans?

On some Automotive forums often there will be a recommendation to put an old abused dead battery on a trickle charger for a few hours and it will be as good as new or some equally ridiculous claim.

trickle chargers are generally less than 2 amps
Most Auto batteries are well more than 50 Amp hours

2 amps for a few hours does extremely little but this same ridiculous advice will be posted over and over again as gospel. They seem to think any charge rate higher than this will make the battery explode, unaware that if they were to jumpstart this dead battery, the alternator would likely feed it in excess of 50 amps, initially.

You would have to have either a solar powered charger, or have access to 120 vac to run a standard trickle charger.
