Thanks to all that replied. Just for kicks, I'm going to get them both tested.
I am just thankful that 1) it happened at home, 2) it didn't happen in the middle of winter when I would have a challenging time cleaning it up, or worse, wouldn't notice for a month until I went to exercise the Generator.
On the bright side, I am now in the market for true deep cycle batteries rather than start/deep cycle that were in there. And, I perhaps have learned to look beyond lowest price as well.
