I replaced the front 3 speed unk brand (possibly a Fantastic) which was noisey with a 10 speed Maxxair w/remote. Also replaced the vent in bedroom area with another Maxxair w/remote. Both work great and direct air in or out at your choice.
I would say at the #5 speed it is the equivlant to low speed on a regular 3 speed fan, don't really notice it. Speed 7 about the same as 2nd speed on a regular fan. At speeds #8-10 noise goes up, but you can still have a conversation.
When we use them, we keep one on air in and the other on air out, and when speed on both is up around #6-7, they do move a lot of air.
Well worth the cost, easy to install.
Amazon (where I bought ours) has the manual version for just over $200 bucks and the remote version for under $250, both with free shipping.
