I am the original early adopter... I bought a Mega Watt for $55. I have one 150 AH battery. That's a hair less than a pair of Group 27s DC's....
NB, can you describe what happens as far as volts and amps over a two hour period? And also if you let it run for longer?
Voltage goes from about 14.6V to 14.8V, Amps goes from about 33A to 12,10, 9 or 8 amps, depending on the state of discharge before I started, ie how much I used the night before. The Current stays as constant as the battery will take a charge, due to the chemistry, and how much sulfur was on the plates, and not in acid solution. Amperage rate is controlled by the chemistry inside the battery. Higher charged, less sulfur to turn into H2SO4, amps drop, the solution is not as easily grabby of sulfur off the plates, less to come off the plates.
What I'm asking is, does it behave as a constant current charger at first? Sending max amps, while the voltage rises through the 13's, and topping out at 14.8?
Then, does it taper amps while holding 14.8? (Constant voltage) Voltage remains relatively constant, amps fall off.
If left on for 24 hours, would it taper amps down to next to nothing while staying at 14.8v? I don't plan to do that, but I want to understand how it behaves.
Never tried it, couldn't answer that for you. I bought with the intent that this was soley my bulk charger, the rest was to be made up with my solar panel charger. The Mega Watt 30 basically put my WorthlessWFCO into practically full time retirement, to be used only when I pull up to a pedestal, (rare to never these days, no fly fishing by a pedestal)
