One of the other members here, I think it was jrnymn7, modded a Boondocker 45. As I read his account of it, it still drops voltage as soon as it hits the target voltage, but the whole curve is higher in voltage. So instead of 14.6 dropping to 13.6, it's say 15.2 dropping to 14.2. BFL, you say your modded PM3-100 just stays at the 14.8? Just by setting the internal pot? Is the internal pot still present on the new models? On all sizes, or just the big guns?
Sorry Snowman, I didn't even see your post 'til BFL replied.
Not quite:
Originally it would do its 15 minute 14.6v boost, and then drop down to 13.6v, regardless of the fact there were still over 200Ah's needing to be replaced. Post mod, the 15 min boost is still there, but it only kicks into high gear, i.e; full voltage, on near full batts? I do know at anything less than about 80% soc, it just does cc for 15 minutes, shuts off, then comes back on and continues on its merry way, in cc, until the batts say otherwise, and then as the volts continue to rise throughout the entire cycle, amps taper and eventually go static around the same time the volts rise to my set point.
