BFL,
Just to make sure I understand... On a PM3 converter, adjusting the voltage pot turns it into the same type of power supply as the Mega Watt, Mean Well, etc.?
First, it outputs full amps, until voltage setting is reached.
Then, it holds that voltage and tapers the amps.
And no float?
Yes? No?
It seems crazy that simply adjusting the voltage setting will cancel the voltage step downs in stages 2 & 3. But if so, I'm very interested.
Yes, when you do the no load bench adjustment to the pot with your multimeter in the Dc output terminals to change up the voltage from its 13.6 to 14.8, then that's what you have. See that ugly graph of before and after I posted somewhere in one of these threads.
I do not know if it will do a boost thing at some now high voltage above 14.8 if it sees that 13.2 like before since I don't think I have ever used it with the batts that low it would see under 13.2 at start.
I also don't know if you revert to 13.6 with the pot if that would make it back into a three stager. Actually I don't know if you left it at 14.8 for long enough it would drop to some float voltage but now higher than before either. I turn mine off when the batts get to 90%, so that's all I know for sure. Works great :)
