I think if you get a nice feral cat as a pet, your conscience would be clear. Your landlord can then not only hear your tomcat yowl at all hours of the love making night, but then deal with dirt digging, the smell of a dirty kitty litter box, hair balls, and perhaps, one day, a cat with a Cheshire smile on it's face, feathers protruding out of it's mouth.
