I switched both additional Noctua fans to blow outward and the 40Mm fan came on quicker and stayed on until amps tapered to 22 amps, a 12 amp performance detraction from the 60Mm fan blowing inward and the 80mm fan blowing outward.
So it is now back to 60mm fan blowing inward and 80mm fan sucking out as I originally oriented them when I cut the lid to accept them. Perhaps the 80Mm in and the 60mm out would be OK too but I think that experiment is in the distant future, if ever.
The heatsink to which I attached the thermocouple climbs as high as 96F at 40 amps output and I have not yet observed it get any hotter. The external heatsinks I added can get as hot as 112 or 120F depending on which one and where I aim the IR thermometer.
I mounted new Bourns 10 turn 1k Ohm potentiometer into a plastic housing for an LED dimmer whose guts I removed. I also added a small bright green voltmeter to this potentiometer housing. The Wattmeter has a voltmeter with two decimal points but it is harder to read from afar.
The overkill guy in me wants to put some switched fans on the external heatsinks, but really the maximum temperatures I am seeing at maximum output do not appear to be in the electronics frying ranges.
