The amorphous panels are not affected nearly as much by less than direct sun as compared to a crystalline PV panel and absorb more of the light striking the surface. Mention was made of degradation later in the day as it gets warmer and this is more of a factor with amorphous than with crystalline panels. The amorphous panels provide maximum Voc at subfreezing temperatures and will decrease their output by up to 15% at temperatures above 75 degrees F. Amorphous panels with their characteristics are at their best during the winter months. You should repeat your tests on the summer solstice and report your results.
