On one hand, the mega-Rvs are disgusting to us minimalists. On the other hand, they're great symbols: they send a signal that folks are free to indulge their whims (like me and my very small trailer), and the market adapts to satisfy those desires.
Yes, there are constraints -- mpg, smog regulations, and soon carbon taxes, I am sure. And yes, freedom is only free for those with the money to buy what they want. But still, even with all of those caveats, this is a good time to be alive. A hundred years ago, you could not have bought that monster RV, no matter how much money you had.
