Bet the revised MEGA won't blow up. Just cutting out the '49 Mercury hood louvers for the fan on the MEGA lid, and replacing it with a wire muffin fan grill guard sped up the fan on my other Megas and improved airflow perhaps 20% maybe even more (guesswork).
Blown Schottkys can and will waterboard the caps.
