Sorry but I have to disagree and I know it's a common thing for folks to smear that stuff on lots of things.
Dielectric grease doesn't make a connection better. The grease itself is an insulator (dielectric).
Make sure something works well and then, if you must, smear that stuff on it.
My experience has been that it traps moisture and insulates connection. Nothing is better than a clean, dry connections.
As an FAA Airman, I spent countless hours cleaning it out of aircraft connections that were gooped up by well meaning av-tech's. Cost the customer a lot of money and the grease was the only thing causing the failure.
