If you're going to spend the money why not just get a complete set of matching batteries?
I don't want to spend all that money at once! :(
My bank so far is doing well, but showing signs of age (6 yrs). I get a little of that green/white stuff around some, but not all, battery posts (the posts not the wires as such), EG. Mex said batts do leak around the posts when the batts get older.
And my capacity figures are declining as expected. At some point instead of gradually declining, capacity will fall off a cliff AFAIK. I cannot predict when that will happen. Later this year? Next year?

EDIT- wa8yxm, you may be right about AGMs, but I need one in the truck camper where the house battery is inside, to not have any fumes.
If going off grid with the TC, I can add flooded batteries outside in the truck bed, ahead of the wheel wells, and pass wires in to parallel with the inside batts. So that's another reason to want to bank AGMs with Flooded ones. I also add solar to the TC for such times.

So I am looking ahead to what to do if the oldest set crashes, but the rest are still ok. (I might also be looking for an excuse to buy a second AGM of the type I have and haven't really used yet) I am juggling batteries between the TC and 5er to add to the puzzle.
I could do split bank, but then I lose the Trimetric over-all picture. Which is not actually vital, but I like it. Just stewing about it all heading into the new year of camping! I know from my outing last week that things are still ok, so no panic. :)
