So it does not charge the battery as such. If 'charging' is making the electrolyte more acidic, then 'reconditioning' ought to raise the battery voltage????
It sure should. And it definitely doesn't.
AFAIK, the charge voltage remains at approximately wherever it was when you started the reconditioning. If you had a surface charge at 13, then if the battery is in decent shape, it will probably stay at around 13.
One of the gang said that reconditioning worked best for him when he had a float charge on at the same time. Otherwise, he said, the voltage could actually drop. Well... I have seen this myself... on a less than perfect, though far from toasted battery.
