Ok that answers my question
Thanks
That means with sun overhead I am now getting the AVG expected results,
Or is that for winter, and summer should be more, in which case my system is under performing,

Hi Mr. Wizard,
The five hour number is what most solar sites use. If the panels are tilted at the ideal angle then 5 hours X the panel rating may be the best "approximation" for the amount of energy that can be gathered in a day.
The simplest installations are fixed tilt, often favoring the correct winter angle.
Some installations feature a winter tilt and a summer tilt.
Of course, the most energy that it is possible to gather relies on "sun tracker" systems. These are generally quite expensive to install and when panels were $20.00 per watt made sense. But now that panels are $2.00 it does not.
