If you already have a Honda 3000 and lots of batteries and chargers, it is hard to justify getting any solar when also at home you can just plug into the house. I am looking at a niche role for topping up from a 50-90 but I can't get the numbers to work the way we do that. Mr Wizard can but he camps differently.
If you don't have a gen (yet) solar could mean you don't need such a big one. If you can't plug in at home, you will want some solar for battery maintenance--if your storage lot has no power. You can stretch out the time between big recharges so you can do a long weekend and get home before the batteries are run down. Lots of good reasons for individuals each according to his circumstances.
What caught my eye lately in this thread was Mr Wiz and others showing how to estimate results instead of just buying and crossing your fingers, which was worrying me before. As it happens the numbers don't work for me, but Mr Wiz has done us all a big favour by keeping this thread going showing how solar actually works with help from the others.
