I suppose if the gen is maxed running the air conditioner then it can't also run the battery charger(s) so some solar would be handy.
No idea what people do for air conditioning when there are limited gen hours in effect. Must have to camp with hook-ups-- in which case no need for solar.
Gas for the gen is trivial. Gen is in the truck bed. I just top up the gen when filling the truck (not so trivial!) If I can't afford to fill the truck, then I won't be camping. Not camping, no need to fill the gen.
Solar is just such a neat thing you feel you have to have it. I would get some if it were just a couple hundred dollars just for the fun of having a new toy, but it is so expensive.
I can't get over how it takes $500-$1,000 for the same amps as a $20 trickle charger will do. Getting an extra 20ah per day is peanuts the way we camp.
With a 600ah bank, I can do a 45-85 in under three hours in the morning. That leaves 15% to top up or another 90ah. So what good would another 20ah do me before dark? Never even notice it.
