Ok, I went off.the deep end? Bought 3 used 37watt uni-solar panels and a blue sky 2000e controller for the hefty price of $400, They were being listed as 75w panels, they are not The tested open...

at Solar noon I was getting much less than expected
at 3pm the Xantrex was doing 13.8v at 10 amps, increasing output to almost 13.xx amps when the fridge came on but maintaining the 13.8v
I reconnected the 2000e and amps went to 18.34
I think its the "charging algorithm "
after 4 hrs it drops to and holds 13.8v and minamum amps, regardless of what the batteries will accept
it seemed to work during cloudy weather because I think the software timer in the programing kept resetting, so it stayed in full output 14.+ volts
with yesterday and today clear sky no sun no drop/lessening in the sun on the panels the c40 (not so smart mode) times out and shifts from bulk to absorption voltage wasting amps and power, by simple expident of Not derlivering, might be okay for a larger array of "tilted" panels putting out more solar amps in the morning before the time out period
tomorrow Tuesday I'll see what the 2000e puts out
I'll post today's totals tonight, they should be slightly better than yesterday since I changed the controller
