Hi jrnymn,
It is dependent on the type of panel, wiring (series, parallel, or series/parallel), controller, location, tilt, aim. Mr. Wizards panels are exceptionally good at low light levels and are a flat fixed install in parallel. Mine are series/parallel.
I do get about 17 amp-hours on December 21, in clear, cold conditions from 256 watts, fixed, flat, series/parallel with a good quality MPPT. Location is 50.448104,-104.560375 The day would be a little less than 8 hours.
My guess is that with a day of only 8 hours tilting might improve output at most by 25%. I repeat this is only a guess.

Piano, how many hours of useful sunlight would that yield? (flat vs. portable)
