Yes, I've seen Mr. Wizard's pics before, and I thought they were mono or poly. I guess I'm use to seeing amorphous as either a roll, or as a flex panel without a frame.
I guess if you have the real estate, it's a good way to go. And yes, I imagine they get quite hot if mounted so close.
I am quite surprised how well a flat install can do in winter. Though I imagine my geographical location will have a significant effect. But it's nice to know it may be a viable option for the future. I may even experiment with a (make shift) flat install, this winter, to compare. Then I'll know for sure.
