MorningStar TS45

I have the Morningstar TS45 PWM controller on my solar system. It is working great I am happy with the system. Just questioning on of the reading I get on the remote panel. At time, it show PWM XX% on the lower right side. What is the percent sign show or tying to tell me. I see it bouncing around. But panels are in the light shade for now. Thanks Gary
  • I assume it is the PWM time slice. If so it should be 100% in bulk and taper during absorption.

I believe you can program it to drop to float by the percentage.
  • Likely battery soc %.

My Tracer mppt has an option of 100% soc, or voltage comp., for when the controller 'thinks' the bank is full. I set mine to voltage comp, and soc went up and down with system wattage, from 50-100%, while the bank was in the high 90's. Problem with solar is, it's up and down like a toilet seat on new years eve. My thinking is, the controller couldn't possibly estimate soc, based on ever changing data, as volts and amps are constantly changing.

Are you referring to one of these?

    Remote Meter

    Manual

Yes that is the meter I am talking about. On the lower right side of the meter is where it gives Charge State Information. It tell if it is in Bulk, Etc. I seen it showing PWM XX%. With the numbers going from 45-98%. I am just trying to understand exactly what these number stand for? Gary
