I'm using Blue Sea battery fuse. Note that the item in the link is the terminal only, and you need to also buy Blue Sea fuse of adequate rating.
"Using generators like they were intended for"? Generators are intended for use in absence of energy sources. With a battery bank sufficient for the duration of the trip there is no need to use a generator. And/or if there is a solar. Using inverter for things like watching TV is easier, more convenient than having to run a generator. So - let's not deviate.
When buying my AGM, I tried to find out about gassing and there was surprisingly little info. All that I could find was that they may purge hydrogen when being severely overcharged. Hopefully charge controller will prevent this. With no chargers running in the night, I'm sleeping peacefully with AGM under bed.
Now, eqaualization is a different matter, but - only Mex here knows how to equalize AGM other than Lifeline brand :), and I don't feel like experimenting. Besides, my AGM are in underbed storage that opens to the outside - it's a pass-through storage in front of trailer. So I could open both hatches in case if I ever decide to subject my AGM to votages beyond the manufactuer specs.
As for the terminal mentioned, I assume it just bolts onto one of the battery terminals, and I assume the positive one? I just bought one with a 300 ampere fuse for catastrophic protection with the rebuilding of my battery bank.
