So your noise tolerance is higher than average. You can't take this, but you can take the noise (and smell) of "silent" generators, and can sleep with it running when attached to your RV. Many others can't.
We have a very good solution for eliminating any smell from generators close by (including our own whenever the wind rarely blows wrong): We retreat inside our RV and use physics by slightly pressurizing the interior so that no generator fumes can enter. We learned this trick years ago, and - we use it for off-pavement travel on dusty roads to keep the interior clean, too.
We've only had to run our built-in generator while sleeping when drycamping in the Deep South in August. Have you ever tried this in an RV (or any other structure) without air conditioning? We slept like babies ... thumbing our noses at the insane outside heat/humidity conditions.
I have to respectfully disagree with Don: Our Honda EX650 cannot be heard for miles whenever we're charging the coach batteries with it. Have you ever tried listening to an EX650 in a campground? The generators are for 50-90 charging, only. We always top off our AGM batteries every few days with a 3-5 hours of driving.
