I just dangle mine out of a window away from the sun.
Once in Quartzsite I hung mine out of the bottom on the door and much to my surprise it was gone the next morning. I can only guess that one of the many little Pack Rats used it to spruce up his underground home.
I don't like the wireless because of the replacing of the second set of batteries.
Not because of price but because of the trouble of laying on the ground to get to them. My unit with one set of batteries can be disabled easily once I through camping for a while.
