Unless there is a capacity issue, it is easier to do a permanent fixed roof installation. I prefer high voltage panels mated to an MPPT charge controller.
800 watts of panels and 400 amp-hours of storage (I prefer SiO2) may nearly eliminate generator use.
Use welding cable, down the fridge chimney, for the installation and have fun!
