back about 1972, i had a friend that owned one of these
he was in the army and built it from 'legal bought' parts
it worked great until it got stuck in a river bank sink hole and the engine died while trying to get out 'he was driving'
we had to hike back to the country road and then flag down a passing truck to hitch a ride, then go back with another vehicle and pull the jeep out of the river
something leaked and water got into the crankcase "engine tear down and rebuild"

This was standard issue for the 1950s M38 series jeeps.
They had floats and hoses attached to the carb air intake and exhaust. My 1952 M38 Jeep was suppose to go completely underwater but I was too chicken to try it out haha...
