Moving a 5Star tuner between vehicles

Question

Thinking about picking up a 5star tune / SCT tuner and was wondering if anyone has transferred these between vehicles.  My thinking is down the road I would like to upgrade to a used Class A and potentially a Gas A / 3V V10 from my 2V V10 class C.  If it is possible to just buy a tune for the new vehicle to move the tuner then that would be yet another plus to the tuner.

Probably not!  Most "tuners" are at the very least motor specific qnd at the worst vin specific

I think I have read where the SCT turner comes with three different tunes (for diesel) and you can purchase downloads should you want to run something else.

The tuners like SCT are usually programmed to the specific veh (at least on Fords). Company will ask you for the computer # (sticker on side of computer) and than will program the tuner for that veh.
If you change vehicles, you can send the tuner back to SCT and they will "unlock" it and reprogram it to another vehicle, as long as it's the same make.
Went thru this several times with my 07 Mustang GT.
