Well I think I am good to go now. The thermister was barely hanging on the bottom of the fin.
And of all things Biscuit questioned my thermometer. :S I should of checked it first. It appears to be showing 4 to 5 degrees too warm.
anyway, all is well that ends well. i'm gonna shut that project down.
