Our 460s have no way of knowing if their pinging. No knock sensor.
My new engine should not have a problem with pinging. The "D" cup pistons and zero decking will enhance turbulence in the combustion chamber, thus reducing the chance of pinging. I will have to find a young person, with good ears to listen for pinging, the first time out. Most of us senior males have notch deafness and can not hear at pinging frequencies. Time will tell.
Chirping the tires is not on my bucket list. GRIN... We have one member that built a nice engine and then ripped the teeth off of the ring gear. I suspect the Dana 80 under my ol Bounder will not tolerate any hot rodding. I do look forward to running up the west side of Eisenhower pass at a faster pace.
