Hi all, just bought a used trailer so we r brand new to owning an RV. A 2011 Milan Eclipse to be exact. Anyway, the light-up flame electric fireplace, which is very pleasing to look at, won’t turn on. My wife is going to kill me because it was one ‘must have’ for allowing me to buy it. It came with an extra bulb, but I can’t get it to do anything when I turn it on. Any recommendations? Is there reset buttons, a fuse inside, or anything else that isn’t in plain site?

Do you have power going to it either 12 V or 120? Did it work before?

Jerry, thanks. Yes, I have it plugged into an outlet right now, at our house, as well as having 2 brand new deep cycle batteries installed. The owner told me it was electric only, as opposed to propane.

Jerry, I bought it without trying it out so Im not sure if it worked before or not and this is why my wife may kill me.

Call the seller and ask if you have it set up right.

You have a circuit breaker panel, Check for a tripped breaker.

I did a quick search on the model and found three facebook posts stating that the fireplace wasn't working. One poster stated that he had to turn on a separate fan and blow it directly into the bottom vent to get it to run on the low setting. It would not run on the high setting at all.

I think for a couple hundred dollars, you'd be better off just buying a newer better quality fireplace.

You are plugged into the house
is the outlet's breaker popped?
Is the outlet a GFCI?
Any breakers in the RV tripped
If the fireplace plugs in is it Plug - - Outlet or plug=outlet (Plug out of outlet)

DO you have ether a Multi-Meter or at the very least a 3-light outlet tester
If not get a multi Meter and learn how to use it
Also get a 3-light outlet tester and a 15-30 Puck adapter so you can plug the 3LT into a 30 amp outlet (Before you plug in the RV) learn the meaning of the 3 lights (GREEN-Green GOOD.. Green-Red bad is a general rule GREEN Dark Dark also bad)

These are the basics.

Now the next level
Does it operate off on/off buttons or a turn the dial Thermostat on the unit or via an Infrared Remote..
If Remote: Dead battery in remote or plastic strip still in placew
Both Fluorescent and some LED lights will mess up I/R reomtes. Turn all lights off and try then turn them back on (This is far down the list but happens)

After that it's seek help I fear.

I had a trailer that had an electric fireplace that had a switch I had to flip to use it because you couldn't use the furnace AND the fireplace at the same time....it was one or the other. You might look for a switch near the floor or near your electric panel.

This thread is pretty funny.
People are still telling the OP to check things in the trailer.
Even after the OP indicated that the fireplace was plugged into an outlet in the house and still wouldn't work. :B

It's not real clear as to it referring to the fireplace being plugged into an outlet or the RV being plugged into the outlet. That they mentioned having 2 new batteries in the same sentence suggests to me that they are saying the RV is plugged into an outlet at their house.

I thought some had a fireplace or microwave switch.
Furnace runs on 12v DC, not like the 110v AC for the fireplace.

I see the reason for some to giggle at our/my thread. I mentoned I am new to RVing. The RV is plugged into our home outlet/110. I am extremely busy during the week and have no idea how to keep up with all of your suggestions and advice. I don’t have a power tester, but as per one of yous tips, I will pock one up when I have cash. Using my debit card, that my wife watches like a hawk, is not wise at this time. We all know why. She is suspicious. Suspicious as to why I won’t show her our pretty fireplace. Excuses are running out. Not to mention, She set up this account so I could ‘learn’ from others.....and learning from others I am. However, I have much to learn (obviously, as my need to ask in this way) and need to set time aside to delve into this RV when ‘she’ is not home so I can work without the pressure.

The not so funny part is that she could probably fix it if I told her. Im just not yet willing to freely go to the doghouse myself, yet. Thanks for standing with me to this point. Update to follow soon.

FYI, I cannot find my “Little Prince” fireplace in a simple google search.....which is perplexing to say the least.

Simple check: make sure the circuit breaker to the outlet hasn't been tripped. With a 110 outlet, if you have any other electric devices on the same circuit, the heating element of the fireplace could be enough to trip it.
