If you hook that Crow Foot to come off the side, at a right angle you are not adding any length to the torque wrench.
Generally agree. Not exactly 90 degrees though. L1 must equal L2.
What's a socket extension and why would you want to use it in the first place?
Sometimes an extension is necessary to get to your nut or bolt. Never would use it because I wanted to, but because I have to.
I have a problem right now, where I need to torque a 1-1/8" hex to 140 ft-lbs and can't get to it with a socket. I have an adjacent nut that I can measure torque and the best I can come up with is to try to match the force to move to the measured torqued nut with the boxed end wrench and match it with the partner nut. Touchy feely. Not extremely accurate. If I could find a boxed end wrench like the one pictured above I could probably do better.
Has the torsional twist-energy via straight socket extension dilemma been resolved?
In my mind: yes. Never had a question.
My next question is, "when is a colon or semi-colon proper"?
