I was going to say Yeah I need one of those too but DH might object. Lol - rexlionExplorerI have a stud finder and I showed my wife how well it works; I hold it up to my body and it lights right up! ;)
- jesseannieExplorerI used to work at Lowes one day I got the hardware manager. I told him he had to move the stud finder display out of the main aisle because every time I walked by the all went off.
Jesseannie - Dick_BExplorerOne of the best is the Pro Sensor 710 about $60 OR go out in the morning as suggested.
- wa8yxmExplorer IIIThere are two types of stud finders, One actually looks for the studs, The other looks for the nails. Both should work so long as steel nails are used.
- TakingThe5thExplorerI use a stud finder that can also find electrical wires. Not 100% accurate, 90+ maybe. Buy a good one. I also like the "dew in the morning" and "frost" methods- those are darn near foolproof.
- RoyBExplorer III do the wall tapping and usually have good luck finding them that way.
Holding up anything of any weight however I will add a back board first and then mount the unit to the board... Never any pull through problems doing it this way...
Something like these google images...

- LynnmorExplorerMany trailers with a fiberglass exterior have very few studs and they are often aluminum. Be sure that you know how your trailer was built.
- kampinguruExplorerI cant use stud finders as they are always going off when I am holding them :-). Seriously though, get a good one if you are looking to buy one. Life is too short to use cheap tools. The cheap ones often wont find the studs.
