If you full-time then Obviously you don't need to worry about draining because you won't have the problem with bad water sitting in the system all winter. Our filters just do sediment and help with tast. A carbon filter for taste, and a sediment filter for crud. At one volunteer site, another camper had a system made of 6 units, and still had to change them about every three months. I just used one for sediment, and drank bottled water for the short time we were there.
