Also, the Driver Side Wheel Fasteners used to be Left Hand Thread since driving tightens the right side and loosens the left, if both sides are Right Hand Thread.
yes, the side to side forces are way higher than on cars and light trucks when turning. couple thatr with wheels that are not hub centric and the lug nuts and studs must take very high forces. much higher than the same static or dynamic load of a similar weight car or truck.
and once the lug nuts start to loosen the studs start getting a great deal of side load rather than tension since they are supporting all the weight rather than just side loads of a hub centric wheel. Makes breaking or losing a stud or lug nut go very fast.
And I remember Chrysler of the 60's. I think they were the last holdout of left and right threads on wheels.
