NEED HELP ASAP!

A week ago i noticed rv was struggling to maintain fuel pressure and rv would start then die after a few mins. Called rv mobile mechanic and after doing his diagnostics he felt it was definitely a bad fuel pump. So here's what happened next.

So i had a local mobile rv mehanic come to my house and put in a front and rear fuel pump, new fuel filter and new regulator as well as siphon out all old gas n refuel with new gas. Test drove afterwards and finally the rv maintained good fuel pressure. We went for a 20 mile drive and everything was good. Well this morning went for another drive and everything was fine for approximately 10 or so miles then all of a sudden the rv died. Please any ideas? His shop opens tomorrow morning so it will need to be towed there. For right now, its dead on the side of the road.

  • He ran his meter on the new pumps n both were getting plenty of current so pumps are definitely working good. Just very odd that after all new parts installed it ran fine for a half hour or so then started acting up n died
  • 1989 ford fleetwood flair with ford 460v8 engine. 7.5 litre gas. 57k miles..mechanic checked fuel vent n said was fine.
  • Fuel tank vent? In order for fuel to come out air has to go in.

It is always helpful for a poster to supply as much info as possible, "rv" doesn't give much to go on.
  • It may be something as simple as a lose wire to the new pump. And of course, just because something is NEW, doesn't mean that it's all that good.....the new pump could fail too:(

Did you try the engine after it cooled down? you may be getting vapor-bound, causing the engine to stall.

    Good luck:)
  • Is it possible its a electrical issue and not fuel related?
